Homeschooling is a legally recognised alternative to traditional schooling. For Grades 1 to 9 parents are required to register their children as homeschool learners with their Provincial Department of Education. We provide you with a portfolio of evidence to support your child’s progress in the CAPS curriculum.

Our lessons are offered in both English & Afrikaans.

We follow the CAPS aligned structure as developed by DBE. Homeschooling is categorised as distance education.

If you’ve decided to take the first step in home educating your child, you need to consider your rights as a home education parent, the resources you will be using, and the support you will need. Your child follows an independent learning approach and you, as the parent, are more involved in your child’s education.

If you choose to educate your child at home, you would need to apply to the head of your Provincial Education Department (PED) to register your child for homeschooling for Grade 1-9. For more information, please refer to the Department of Basic Education.)

There are no prescribed minimum qualifications for you to homeschool your child. Many home education parents enlist the support of tutors, who are often qualified teachers, to supplement their child’s education. Many home education parents make use of private tutors to assist with Homeschool facilitation. We have provided a listing as a service to parents looking for tutors using the FastExcellence curriculum in their local community. The list is updated regularly, but we cannot always guarantee the accuracy of the information. Additionally too, FastExcellence has partnered with E Tuta to provide a broader network of educators in your area. ETuta is an online meeting place for tutors and families seeking tuition.
